'Snap your hand off' - Moncur delighted with this Newcastle achievement, all due to one man

Newcastle United legend Bob Moncur has said he is delighted at how the club have begun their Premier League campaign and believes it all comes down to manager Rafael Benitez.
The Magpies have endured a hit and miss start on their return to the top flight following their promotion last season, with some impressive results offset by disappointing defeats.
They sit as the lowest of the three newly promoted sides in 11th place, a point behind both Brighton and Huddersfield in eighth and tenth respectively, but Moncur insists that is an achievement that the Toon Army should be very happy with.
The club icon, who was the last Magpies captain to lift a major piece of silverware for the club back in 1969, also stated that Benitez has got the best out what he has available but is hoping that new investment will help the Spanish boss in his role.
He was quoted by the Chronicle as saying: “If you’d said to me at this stage of the season that we’d be 11th, I’d have said: ‘I’ll snap your hand off.’

“Rafa’s done a great job with the squad he’s got – he’s a great manager. I think the whole city and the club has been buoyed up by Rafa.”
“If there’s a takeover, hopefully, there’ll be more investment, which will make Rafa’s job a bit easier.”
Newcastle have suffered two successive 1-0 defeats, away at Burnley and then at home to Bournemouth, and face a difficult task in their next match which sees them travel to Old Trafford to take on second placed Manchester United on Saturday.
