Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted Derby County’s visit to Villa Park in the Championship on Saturday afternoon and reckons that Steve Bruce’s will sneak a 1-0 win.
As quoted on the Sky Sports website, the former Nottingham Forest and Leeds United midfielder made the forecast for the Villans who have recently returned to form after suffering a slight dip and said: “Aston Villa’s chances of automatic promotion are slim but all they can do is keep winning and hope the sides above them slip up.
“Either way, Steve Bruce will want them to continue their momentum and I think they’ll sneak the win.”
Three victories in their last three league games, including a convincing 4-0 thumping against Ipswich Town last time out has given the Birmingham club confidence as they look to go into the play-offs in top form.
Football Insider verdict:
It would be hard to look past a victory for the Villa, particularly given the Rams recent run of results which have seen them lose three out of the last five matches in the Championship. Prutton is right, it will be a tough game though with Gary Rowett’s side looking to cement their place in the play offs with Millwall closely following up behind them – two points now the difference. Jack Grealish is firing on all cylinders at the moment and we can see him having another huge influence on the outcome of this battle.
