SNP MP mocks Hearts star after controversial footage of Dundee United incident

Hearts returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday as they overcame nine-player Dundee United 3-0.

The Jam Tarts were in need of a victory after their 2-2 draw with Celtic at Tynecastle last weekend.

While this did keep the Hoops six points off the Jambos, it allowed Rangers to close the gap to four.

However, with Celtic and Rangers not playing until Sunday, they have now widened this to seven points, as the Old Firm clubs prepare for their matches.

Nevertheless, Hearts’ win came in controversial fashion, especially with Panutche Camara’s red card, causing SNP MP Stephen Flynn to react.

Marc Leonard mocked for reaction to Panutche Camara’s headbutt

Hearts have been on the end of some controversial decisions this season, but many would argue that Camara’s red card against the Jambos was justified.

Amidst a commotion between the Hearts and Dundee United players, the Dundee United star motioned his head towards Marc Leonard.

This saw the Hearts player quickly collapse to the ground, with the referee quick to brandish a red card towards Camara.

However, the way that Leonard went down has caused controversy, with the midfielder quick to go to ground despite how little force was used in the motion.

As a result, SNP MP and Dundee United fan Flynn was quick to take to X after the match to react to the red card.

While posting a video of the footage, he simply put “near killed him,” a clear sarcastic remark to how Leonard reacted.

Jim Goodwin: Leonard will be mortified watching red card footage back

Another figure who was far from impressed with the incident was Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin.

The match was essentially over by the point Camara was given his marching orders in the 75th minute, with the Tangerines already 2-0 down, he is now set to miss some key upcoming matches through suspension.

While Dundee United could look to appeal the red card, there is every chance that he will now be ruled out for three matches.

As a result, when asked about the red card, Goodwin was furious and was especially irked with how Leonard behaved, which resulted in the dismissal.

He told The Courier on 1 February: “Pan puts his face alongside the Hearts player’s face but there’s absolutely no motion in Pan’s head.

“There’s no clash of heads. It’s not like it is forehead to forehead or Pan’s forehead to the Hearts player’s nose.

“The Hearts player, when he watches it back…I think he’ll be mortified because he’s gone down as if he’s got a broken nose.”
