Solskjaer plan unveiled as Man United open talks on two new deals - pundit
Man United will wait until at least the end of the season before making a decision on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker delivered his verdict after Solskjaer’s assistant Mike Phelan signed a new deal with the club.
Man United confirmed (October 4) that Phelan has committed to fresh terms that will keep him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2024.
That brings him into line with Solskjaer who penned a new deal with United over the summer.
The Manchester Evening News reported (October 5) two more of his backroom staff, Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna, are also in talks over a new deal.
Asked whether that means Solskjaer’s position is safe, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “You know what, I don’t think Manchester United are built like Chelsea and their owners.

“I don’t think Ole is in any danger of losing his job. They will give him until the end of the season, see where they are in the league, see how the team is playing and see how they have done in the cup competitions.
“I just can’t see them sacking him. Giving Mike Phelan a new contract just echoes that they are happy.
“They’re the owners and that’s their decision.”
United are winless in their last two Premier League games – both at Old Trafford – and have fallen to fourth in the table.
They have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and have lost one of their opening two Champions League group stage games.
