Son Heung-min and Bellegarde react as Wolves star Hwang Hee-chan is ‘very sorry’

Wolves star Hwang Hee-chan sent an emotional message to his supporters following a disappointing international break.

The 29-year-old has experienced a tough 2024/25 season in the Premier League, only starting five matches while dealing with continuous injury problems at Molineux.

Luckily, with Jorgen Strand Larsen and Matheus Cunha starring in Wolves’ attack, the threat of relegation no longer looks to be an issue for Vitor Pereira’s side with nine matches remaining.

Hwang’s struggles have not stopped there because, despite scoring once, South Korea were forced to settle for back-to-back World Cup qualification draws against Oman and Jordan.

Taking to Instagram [26 March], Hwang said: “It’s not the result I wanted and wanted to show. I’m very sorry, but thank you for your support,” with a South Korean flag.

Tottenham’s Son Heung-min liked the post, with Wolves teammate Jean-Ricner Bellegarde commenting: “Chami,” with a loving emoji.

Nottingham Forest’s interest in deadly striker Cunha could just be the tip of the iceberg for the Black Country team, with Rayan Ait-Nouri, Joao Gomes and Nelson Semedo being linked with exits.

Carlos Forbs and Strand Larsen are both likely to return to their respective parent clubs, entirely diminishing Wolves’ frontline, unless Hwang can get back to his very best.

Hwang’s 2024/25 campaign has been a struggle.

The 29-year-old notched 12 goals and three assists in the Premier League last season, but with just two goals this term, supporters have almost forgotten about the agile centre-forward.

Pereira will need serious reinforcements during the summer transfer window if several stars are to leave, even with Emmanuel Agbadou, Marshall Munetsi and Nasser Djiga joining in the winter.

This will be vital if Wolves are to avoid relegation next season, with the current manager saving the club after Gary O’Neil was sacked following Wolves’ 2-1 defeat to Ipswich in December.
