‘Son Heung-min finished at Tottenham as Bryan Mbeumo to follow Thomas Frank’
Thomas Frank’s arrival in North London looks set to present Tottenham with one final chance to cash in on Son Heung-min this summer.
The 32-year-old helped to break Spurs’ 17-year trophy drought, lifting the Europa League title after beating Man United in Bilbao last month, but it was not his finest season in white and he started the final on the bench.
Despite notching 11 goals and 11 assists in 46 total appearances, Tottenham fans were extremely critical of Son’s performances, especially when the Lilywhites were desperate for a leader to take control.
While the team may have succeeded in Europe, failures in the Premier League, languishing one spot above the relegation zone, Daniel Levy made the harsh decision to sack Ange Postecoglou.
The owner has quickly made a change at the helm, bringing in Frank from Brentford, and while Football Insider understood that the 51-year-old would not raid his old team, one move could happen.

Bryan Mbeumo to Tottenham gathers pace after Thomas Frank news
According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas on X (13 June), Spurs have now held initial discussions over a potential deal for Bryan Mbeumo, with Frank’s arrival increasing their chances.
Football Insider understands that Man United fully expected to secure Mbeumo’s signature this summer, but this news throws a spanner in the works for those at Old Trafford.
The Lilywhites are bound to experience a summer of change under new management, especially with The Telegraph reporting (6 June) that Levy is facing toxicity from the squad over Postecoglou’s sacking.
Mbeumo could help revolutionise the team over the coming weeks, having notched 20 goals and seven assists in 38 league matches in 2024/25, outperforming any Spurs player by nearly double.
Son Heung-min to be sold for profit to Saudi Arabia
Having triggered the one-year extension in Son’s contract, the South Korean’s deal now runs until next summer, meaning that this is the final window to receive a big fee for his signature.
As already discussed, fans were extremely displeased with the winger’s displays home and away, but with the Saudi Pro League looking to heavily invest this summer, it could be a chance to make a profit on him.
Son has been a very loyal servant to the Lilywhites over the last decade, making 454 appearances, recording 173 goals and 101 assists, but he appears to have entered the twilight of his career.

As per The Telegraph (3 June), the 32-year-old is now a target for Saudi Arabian teams, and given some of the big-money moves for Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Ivan Toney, Son could be the next to follow.
While Mbeumo would not be a direct replacement, featuring primarily on the right wing, his presence would likely push Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, and Mikey Moore onto the South Korean’s side.
Some supporters may not be ready to part ways with the club captain, but with Levy running out of time to make a profit from Son’s exit, the potential incoming of a Brentford star opens the door this summer to making it far more palatable.
