‘Son Heung-min is finished at Tottenham’ – Fans rage after ‘atrocious’ latest

Son Heung-min has been torn to shreds after Tottenham could only manage a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League.

The Lilywhites will have a chance to amend their errors in Germany, with the quarter-final second-leg kicking off on Thursday, 17 April, but it was a disappointing home result considering the domination.

Despite creating most of the early chances, it was Man United-linked star striker Hugo Ekitike to open the scoring with just six minutes gone, and Pedro Porro was needed to find the equaliser.

With both teams scoring after 26 minutes, supporters were expectant for more goals to hit the back of the net on an exciting European night, but the skill and talent on the pitch could not quite meet that.

Tottenham disappoint at home against Eintracht Frankfurt

While Postecoglou, who is under pressure for Tottenham to win the Europa League, was positive about his side’s display in front of the home crowd, supporters are not so convinced by the Australian.

Son was at the forefront of most of the criticism of the night because, despite his 11 goals and 12 assists across all competitions this season, his performances have been well below par in recent weeks.

Supporters, understandably, have become increasingly frustrated with their team’s results in the Premier League, with the side sitting 14th in the table, and the Europa League is the only thing left to fight for.

With the South Korean wearing the captain’s armband this term, since the departures of Hugo Lloris and then Harry Kane, the veteran winger’s lack of leadership has disappointed immensely, and so too his declining displays.

Son Heung-min torn to pieces as Tottenham club captain

Postecoglou could very much have Son to blame if Daniel Levy finally pulls the trigger on his tenure this summer, with the winger often disappearing at the most important moments.

Having watched the 32-year-old against Frankfurt, one supporter labelled the player as “finished” while another called his “atrocious” display a “new low” for the star who has struggled throughout the season.

With just one goal and one assist in his last eight appearances across all competitions, it is clear why Spurs fans are ready to let the forward go this summer, despite his current deal expiring in 2026.
