Son Heung-min reacts to message from Guglielmo Vicario amid Tottenham exit whispers

Son Heung-min reacted to a message from Tottenham teammate Guglielmo Vicario amidst whispers of an exit this summer.

The South Korean provided 11 goals and 11 assists for Spurs this season, and whilst those numbers are strong at first glance, it was the former Hamburg winger’s lowest scoring season for the North London club since his first campaign in a white shirt.

The 32-year-old will go down as a legend at the club, but with just a year remaining on his contract, the club have a decision to make.

Questions have been asked about his performances, and former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Son “looks to have slowed down a bit”.

However, the South Korean was an integral part of Tottenham’s Europa League triumph over Man United, which will likely play a part in the club’s decision on his future.

Gulgielmo Vicario still celebrating Tottenham’s Europa League victory

Over a week has passed since the victory over United, and Vicario shared a photo on Instagram captioned: “We’re still vibing”.

The post was then liked by Son, who celebrated the first major club trophy of his career with the win in Bilbao.

Son Heung-min key for Ange Postecoglou’s long-term success at Tottenham

Football Insider Verdict

Ange Postecoglou has been under immense pressure this season, and it is showing no signs of letting up just yet.

Ex-Spurs striker Darren Bent questioned whether chairman Daniel Levy was convinced by the success in the Europa League.

It is difficult to ignore the stark differences between domestic and continental form this season, but that continental form may buy Postecoglou one more shot as the man in charge.

But if he is to make a success of it, the Australian must convince Tottenham‘s hierarchy to hold onto Son this summer.

The South Korean remains one of Spurs’ best players and the reverence with which the younger players have towards the winger is vital to the squad’s development.

What’s more, keeping the fans happy is a key aspect towards any manager’s survival at a club, and being the manager who ousted Son will be a death sentence for Postecoglou.
