Sorba Thomas: Everton have found Jack Grealish alternative after Stoke City vs Sheffield Wednesday
Sorba Thomas could be a simple answer should Everton fail to secure Jack Grealish on a permanent deal in the summer.
The Man City winger has been an absolute revelation since arriving in January, notching two goals and six assists in 22 games, before having his season ended prematurely by injury.
Even without the 30-year-old superstar, David Moyes’ side have retained their positive form, with the Toffees still in contention to secure European football this campaign.
Everton’s transfer plans could change drastically depending on where they finish in the Premier League table, but it is understood already that Stoke City’s Thomas is a clear target ahead of the summer.
Jack Grealish’s future remains unclear despite Everton success
Although those at the Hill Dickinson Stadium have fallen head over heels for Grealish, there is no guarantee that the Toffees will secure a permanent move for his signature.
In fact, his form on Merseyside has triggered interest from several clubs, and others might be able to afford a healthier salary than Moyes’ side can splash out on.
That could force Everton into a transfer rethink ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, and one player who continues to prove himself in the EFL is Welsh international Thomas.

In Stoke’s 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Friday, 3 April, he took his tally for the Championship season to 10 goals and 10 assists in 39 games, helping the Potters to a mid-table standing.
What should be known about Sorba Thomas’ situation at Stoke?
Everton obviously want to keep Grealish. There is no doubt about that. But in reality, the club might look for an alternative target or struggle to agree a deal with Man City in the summer.
Thomas, on the other hand, is only 27 years of age, is contracted at the Bet365 Stadium until the summer of 2028, and is reportedly earning £25,000-per-week, totally just north of £1million per year.
He would be a much cheaper alternative than Grealish, who has not had the chance to fully seal a move away from the Etihad Stadium due to his long-term injury issue on Merseyside.
While Thomas is untested in the Premier League, mainly playing his football in the second tier of English football, it feels like a risk worth taking after such a stunning Championship campaign.
