Sources: AC Milan and Atletico Madrid send scouts to watch Liverpool talent Marcelo Pitaluga
Liverpool goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga is being tracked by AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, sources have told Football Insider.
The Brazilian goalkeeper, 20, made a strong impression in the first half of the campaign at non-league outfit Macclesfield before suffering an ankle ligament injury.
He is now fully recovered and is keen to be playing regularly as he targets a place in the Brazil Olympics squad in Paris in 2024.
AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are long-term admirers of Pitaluga and they are understood to have sent scouts to watch him in action for Liverpool’s Under-21s against Arsenal on Monday (6 March).
They have delivered rave reviews about the rising star keeper.
Pitaluga joined Macclesfield on loan last summer and kept 11 clean sheets in 23 appearances for the Cheshire side before the deal ended early due to his injury.
He made his injury return for Liverpool’s Under-21 side in Premier League 2 action against Leicester on 25 February.
The Brazillian came through the ranks at Fluminense before joining the Merseysiders for a reported potential fee of almost £2million in 2020.
He made the bench for the Liverpool senior squad on four occasions during the 2021-22 campaign.
Nevertheless, he remains behind Alisson, Caoimhin Kelleher and Adrian in Jurgen Klopp’s pecking order.
Adrian is out of contract at the end of the 2022-23 campaign, while Kelleher has hinted at a potential Anfield exit in the summer window.
Alisson has played every minute for Liverpool in the Premier League this term, keeping 10 clean sheets.

Klopp’s side are now just three points adrift of Champions League qualification, with a game in hand on fourth-place Tottenham.
Their recent rejuvenation was capped off by a record 7-0 win over rivals Man United on Sunday (5 March).
