Sources: Accrington agree to sign West Brom starlet Malcolm after fending off EFL rivals
West Brom forward Jovan Malcolm has agreed a deal to join Accrington Stanley, Football Insider understands.
The attacker, 19, is highly regarded within the Hawthorns corridors of power and they have given the green light for him to head out on loan.
A West Brom source has told Football Insider that Accrington have beaten a number of EFL rivals to agree a season-long loan for Malcolm.
Malcolm is a versatile attacker who had played all across the front line during his time as a youth player.
Last season he scored seven goals in 15 outings in the Under 18 Premier League.
This season he has already bagged a goal in the Premier League 2.
Stanley boss John Coleman continues to operate with two strikers, primarily Colby Bishop and Dion Charles, with the signing of Malcolm adding more competition to the squad.
Stanley are enjoying a strong start to the season and currently sit ninth in League One.
As a result, Bishop has been the subject of much transfer speculation this window.
It was revealed on Saturday that Peterborough United have had a six-figure bid for Bishop rejected.
The latest from a Posh source is that a final offer has been rejected and their move is dead.
However, this could open the door for fellow suitors Preston North End and Huddersfield Town.
Stanley’s main strikers are yet to get off the mark in the league this season, despite the club’s form.
However, Bishop did open his account for the season in the club’s Carabao Cup win over Doncaster earlier this month.
