Sources: Adams reaches agreement to be new Bradford City manager
Derek Adams is set to be confirmed as the new Bradford manager in the next 48 hours, Football Insider understands.
He has reached an agreement with the League Two big hitters and the deal is now being finalised.
Adams guided Morecambe to promotion in the League Two play-off final on Monday as they secured a League One spot for the first time in their history.
It is understood Adams is willing to drop down a division to take over at Bradford.
On Thursday morning, The Shrimps released a statement confirming Adams was stepping down to “pursue an opportunity elsewhere”.
Earlier this week, the 45-year-old was lifting the League Two play-off trophy at Wembley.
An extra-time penalty from Carlos Mendes Gomes saw the Shrimps defeat Newport County in a closely fought game.
Bradford avoided relegation during the recently concluded season, eventually finishing 15th after a poor start to the campaign.
Mark Trueman and Conor Sellars served as joint managers at Valley Parade during the second half of last season but were dismissed in May.
The pair successfully guided Bradford away from the relegation zone but their side ended the season by winning just one point from the last 21 available.
Adams is set to be announced as Trueman and Sellars’ replacement in the next 48 hours.
The Scot has previously managed Ross County on two occasions as well as Plymouth Argyle.
A brief spell as Hibernian’s assistant manager came between his two spells with Ross County.
He will now look to improve on Bradford’s poor season having left Morecambe.
