Sources: Arsenal line up ‘huge’ new Moises Caicedo bid

Arsenal are planning a fresh bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gunners pushed to sign the 21-year-old Ecuador international in January but saw a £70million bid rejected by the Seagulls.

Caicedo then put pen to paper on a new bumper deal on the south coast, extending his stay at Brighton until 2027 with an option to extend for a further year.

Caicedo’s new contract seemingly took him off the market, but it is understood that Arsenal have not given up on their pursuit of the Premier League star and are lining up another bid for the midfielder this summer.

Brighton were aware that a new deal might not fend off all interest, but they wanted to ensure they received a huge fee for their star player should they sell him.

Football Insider sources revealed earlier this month (7 March) that Arsenal remain interested in Caicedo despite Brighton upping their asking price to £90million.

Brighton were able to sign Caicedo for just £4.5million in 2021 after he impressed scouts at Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle.

After a brief loan stint at Belgian side Beerschot, Caicedo was recalled to England and has become a key player in Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

He has made 28 appearances across all competitions for Brighton and netted his only goal of the season in the 5-2 win against Leicester City back in September.
