Sources: Arsenal star Charlie Patino undergoing Swansea medical today

Arsenal midfielder Charlie Patino will undergo a Swansea City medical on Thursday morning, sources have told Football Insider.

The England Under-20 international, 19, has agreed to join the Welsh club on a season-long loan.

Patino spent last season on loan at Blackpool and scored three goals in 37 appearances for the Seasiders as they were relegated from the Championship.

The Watford-born player will now spend a second year in the second tier.

Patino is contracted to the Gunners until the summer of 2025.

The 19-year-old joined Arsenal’s youth academy in 2015 after leaving Luton Town’s set up and has progressed through the age groups in London.

Patino has made two appearances for the Arsenal first team, the first in their League Cup quarter-final in December 2021 where he scored in a ten minute cameo to help secure their place in the semi-final.

The midfielder featured for the Gunners again that same season in their FA Cup third round defeat to Nottingham Forest and was included in the starting lineup.

Patino has been capped at youth level for England, most recently featuring for the Under-20s in several international friendlies but was left out of the squad for their Under-20s World Cup run this summer.

Swansea are keen for reinforcements as they look to improve upon their tenth place Championship finish last term.

The Welsh club drew their opening match of the new campaign against Birmingham City last weekend (5 August) and face their next test against West Brom.
