Sources: Aston Villa attacker set to quit after being told to find a new club

Aston Villa attacker Kelsey Mooney is set to quit after being told to find a new club, Football Insider understands.

The 20-year-old is out of contract at Villa Park this summer and will not be offered an extension irrespective of whether the club are in the Premier League or Championship next season.

A Villa source has told Football Insider the centre-forward is attracting multiple interest from League One and League Two clubs and is set to drop down the Football League at the next stage of his career.

Mooney signed a professional contract with the Midlands giants in 2017 but has not played a senior game for the club.

He scored a glut of goals in Premier League 2 at the start of this season and was then loaned out to fourth-tier outfit Cheltenham Town, but struggled to establish himself.

Mooney started just three matches among his nine appearances during his loan and scored just a single goal, back in August.

Tellingly, he did not make the Villa Under-23s squad in their final matches of the campaign as the team began planning for life after him.

In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club have tabled a £7.5million bid for a player they want regardless of promotion.
