Sources: Aston Villa rising star Young undergoing Carlisle United medical after agreement reached

Aston Villa forward Brad Young is undergoing a Carlisle United medical, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The rising star, 18, was a key member of Villa’s FA Youth Cup winning side last season and is regarded as a stellar talent.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Carlisle have reached an agreement with Villa to take Young on a season-long loan.

The forward sensation has already made his senior Villa bow and has been in red-hot form already this season.

Young scored twice in the club’s 5-2 Premier League 2 thrashing of Nottingham Forest last Friday and has made a seamless transition to Under-23s football.

He also scored the penalty that clinched Villa’s FA Youth Cup triumph over Liverpool in last season’s final.

His senior debut came as a substitute in January’s 4–1 FA Cup defeat to Liverpool.

A young Villa side had to play Liverpool as several members of the first team were isolating as per covid rules.

Young signed his most recent contract in July, meaning his terms will expire in the summer of 2023.

The youngster will offer versatility to the Cumbrians as he can play as a left-winger or an out and out striker.

Carlisle United have taken four points from their opening two League Two games this season.

Villa were handed a 3-2 defeat by Premier League new boys Watford on the opening day of their season.
