Sources: Aston Villa to sell two more first-teamers as Leander Dendoncker medical underway

Aston Villa are ready to balance the books by allowing three first-teamers to leave the club before next week’s transfer deadline (1 February), sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Leander Dendoncker’s move to Napoli is the first of a potential triple deal in the final days of the window.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (24 January) that Aston Villa midfielder Dendoncker is undergoing a medical at the Serie A giants ahead of a loan-to-buy move.

Napoli can sign the Belgium international on a permanent basis at the end of the loan deal and a contract running until June 2028 has already been agreed.

It is believed Villa are pleased to have secured the midfielder a high-quality move away and a chance to put himself in the shop window out in Italy.

Meanwhile, Calum Chambers and Bertrand Traore could also make way this month with Emery’s side looking to raise funds for future arrivals.

The Villa boss has already taken the unusual step of confirming to the media that the 28-year-old duo are up for sale this month.

Traore, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has scored twice away with Burkina Faso at the African Cup of Nations and clubs are considering a potential swoop.

Chambers is out of contract in June 2025 and has struggled for regular minutes since Emery’s arrival.
