Sources: Aston Villa to terminate Lamare Bogarde’s deal – he’s set for January move
Aston Villa are set to recall Lamare Bogarde from his loan at Bristol Rovers and agree a new deal with a Championship club, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that it was always in the Villans’ plans to terminate Bogarde’s spell at the club League One club this month before fixing him up with a new club in the second tier for the second half of the season.
The 19-year-old has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season, but he has not been given significant game time since Joey Barton was replaced by Matt Taylor last month as Rovers boss.

Taylor had previously tried to sign the central midfielder when he was in charge of Rotherham, but both Villa and Bogarde turned down the opportunity to join the Millers.
Nevertheless, Bogarde has not made a single appearance for Rovers since Taylor was appointed.
However, a move to the Championship is now expected for the highly-rated youngster so he can test himself at a higher level.
The 2004-born Dutchman joined Villa from Feyenoord’s academy and came to prominence after being handed his senior debut in an FA Cup clash against Liverpool in January 2021.
He enjoyed a spell at Bristol Rovers in the second half of last season and started 15 out of 18 games during this stint.

Sources also told Football Insider (1 January) that defender Kerr Smith has agreed a new two-year deal with Villa before he joins St Johnstone on loan.
Aston Villa sit second in the Premier League table after their 3-2 win against Burnley on Saturday (30 December) and next face Middlesbrough away in the FA Cup.
