Sources: Aston Villa’s stance on Lamare Bogarde transfer revealed after Brighton swoop
Aston Villa have no interest in selling Lamare Bogarde in January amid interest from Brighton, sources have told Football Insider.
The Villans are flying high in the Premier League and are competing across multiple competitions, and as such, they have little desire to lose any of their squad this winter.
Bogarde has attracted interest from Brighton of late, with the South Coast outfit viewing the midfielder as a player who has the potential to become a regular starter in the top-flight.
However, sources have told Football Insider that there is “no chance” of Aston Villa allowing him to depart in January.
The 21-year-old still features prominently in Unai Emery’s plans and is seen as an exciting prospect for the future at Villa Park.

Lamare Bogarde is crucial to Aston Villa’s Europa League push
A mistake from Bogarde led to Aston Villa conceding during their 2-1 win over Basel in the Europa League last week.
The Dutchman played the entire 90 minutes in Switzerland as he helped his team to a victory that leaves them sitting third in the league phase table with just two matches to go.
Despite his recent error, Bogarde has been a key player for the second city outfit during their European campaign so far.
He has managed just three Premier League starts in 2025-26, but has played from the off in four of his team’s six Europa League games.
Villa’s continental exploits could provide them with a backdoor route back into the Champions League if they are able to go all the way to glory, and as a result, Emery will be reluctant to lose any of the core group that he has relied upon in the competition so far.
Aston Villa plan Youri Tielemans contract talks
Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Aston Villa are planning to engage in talks with Youri Tielemans over a new contract, after some typically classy performances in the midfield.
The Belgian has recently returned from injury but has immediately become a key part of Emery’s plans, and that looks set to earn him a new deal ahead of his current terms expiring in 2028.
Tielemans is part of a group of strong options for the Villans in the middle of the park, with the likes of Boubacar Kamara and Amadou Onana combining to keep Bogarde out of the team in domestic action at the moment.
That quartet have provided several selection headaches for Emery so far this season, and that looks set to continue for now, with Bogarde set to stay put for another window at least.
