Sources: Bayern Munich plot new Trevoh Chalobah move

Bayern Munich could revisit a move for Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah in the January window, sources have told Football Insider.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel is a big admirer of the 24-year-old after their time together at Stamford Bridge.

There was strong interest from the Bundesliga winners during the summer window, but the two clubs failed to agree a fee before the 1 September deadline.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 25 August that Chalobah had rejected the chance to join Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

Reports had suggested that the defender is considered surplus to requirements at Chelsea and could be frozen out at Stamford Bridge.

However, Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he “will be involved” for the Blues and is definitely in his plans until – at least – the January window.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that it will be difficult for the 24-year-old to play a big part under Pochettino – who moved to add Axel Disasi to his squad in the summer.

Levi Colwill has also returned to the squad after a successful loan spell at Brighton last term.

Chalobah is yet to play for Chelsea this season, with a hamstring injury expected to keep him on the treatment table until late September.

He is under contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2028 after penning a new deal less than 12 months ago.

According to FBRef, the ex-Huddersfield loanee earns a wage of £50,000-a-week.

Chalobah made 33 appearances for Chelsea last term and has turned out for the Blues 63 times in total, notching four goals and one assist.
