Sources: Ben Brannan heads to Tottenham after move permission granted

Tottenham have taken Kilmarnock sensation Ben Brannan on trial ahead of a potential move, sources have told Football Insider.

The defender, 16, has come through the ranks at Rugby Park and is regarded as a youngster of immense promise.

Tottenham have been alerted to the right-back’s potential after he impressed for club and country at various youth levels.

The Premier League giants are looking to bolster their academy ranks and will now cast an eye over the Scotland Under-16 international at close quarters after being granted permission by Kilmarnock to take him on trial.

Spurs will then decide whether to make a formal move for Brannan.

The right-back is yet to sign professional terms at Kilmarnock and the club will be entitled to limited compensation if he joins the Lilywhites on a permanent basis.

Brannan moved up to the Under-18s squad at Killie this year after spending last season with the Under-17 side.

The defender has also featured regularly for Scotland’s youth side.

The teenager was part of the Under-16s squad for the UEFA Development Tournament earlier this year.

Although he was utilised as a substitute for their first game against Denmark, he was included in the starting lineup for their following two fixtures.
