Sources: Big development in Arsenal move for Declan Rice

West Ham are demanding £100million for Arsenal target Declan Rice this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hammers are refusing to budge on their asking price for their star man as the Gunners continue to lead the race.

The 24-year-old will have 12 months left on his contract at the London Stadium at the end of the season but has already made clear his intentions to move on from David Moyes’ side.

Moyes has previously claimed that the England international will be a “British transfer record” when he leaves the club.

The current British record sits at £105m, the price Chelsea paid to sign Enzo Fernandez in January.

Last week (22 April), Football Insider revealed that Arsenal are in pole position to sign Rice amid Chelsea’s financial struggles.

The Blues had been considered long-term favourites to sign the midfielder but are facing financial limitations after spending big since new owner Todd Boehly’s arrival.

The Gunners are now increasingly confident in their chances to sign Rice this summer.

Football Insider also revealed (21 April) that Newcastle United have pulled the plug on a potential deal for Rice given the Hammers’ high asking price.

The Irons’ captain is believed to be keen to stay in the capital if he joins a new club in the summer and fellow London club Arsenal believed they will win the race to his signature.

Rice has made 41 appearances for West Ham across all competitions this season as they continue their fight to stay in the Premier League.

In other news, the door has opened for Arsenal to sign ‘next Gabriel Martinelli’.
