Sources: Big update on Everton terminating Arnaut Danjuma deal

Arnaut Danjuma is set to stay at Everton for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign despite strong interest from Lyon, sources have told Football Insider.

Lyon are keen to take the 26-year-old, who is owned by La Liga club Villarreal, on loan for the rest of this term.

But Everton would need to cancel Danjuma’s loan for him to make the move to France before the 1 February transfer deadline.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (12 January) that the Merseysiders will not cancel the forward’s loan with the club until they have found a suitable replacement.

As things stand, Sean Dyche and his recruitment staff have not been able to do so – and Danjuma is set to remain at Goodison Park until May.

It is believed Lyon are already looking at alternatives as they look to bolster their squad before the transfer deadline.

Football Insider revealed on Friday (26 January) that Everton and Fulham winger target Luiz Henrique is likely to join Brazillian side Botafago on a permanent deal before heading on loan to the Ligue 1 outfit.

Danjuma has made 18 appearances across all competitions for Dyche’s side so far this term, scoring twice.

Just eight of those outings have come as part of the starting lineup with the Netherlands international playing a total of 827 minutes for Everton.

The Merseysiders sit 17th in the table and are just one point above the drop zone following their 10-point deduction earlier this season.

Danjuma and the Toffees are next in action against Luton in the FA Cup on Saturday (27 January).

In other news, Everton could land devastating new punishment on top of second points deduction.
