Sources: Big update on ex-Liverpool star Roberto Firmino and potential Premier League return
Former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino is unlikely to return to the Premier League this month, sources have told Football Insider.
The 32-year-old is not enjoying his time with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ahli after making the free transfer move away from Anfield at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
It is believed the Saudi club are willing to let him move on and find a new club in the January transfer window.

However, a well-placed recruitment source has told Football Insider that it would be “very surprising” to see Firmino come back to England.
Nevertheless, there is likely to be Premier League interest in the forward – who scored 82 English top-flight goals for Liverpool before leaving earlier this year.
Sheffield United have been linked with a potential swoop but it is believed Firmino has no interest in being involved in a relegation dogfight.
The 32-year-old has made 19 appearances across all competitions for Al-Ahli this term but hasn’t found the net since scoring a hattrick on the opening day of the season in August.
Firmino has not started a Saudi Pro League game since 27 October.

The ex-Brazil international came to Liverpool and the Premier League in 2015 and went on to win the league, the FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and more during his time at Anfield.
He notched 111 goals and 79 assists in 362 games for the Reds and struck up a famous partnership with fellow forwards Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
