Sources: Big update on Man United move for ‘£340,000-a-week’ star Raphael Varane
Man United are preparing to allow Raphael Varane to depart Old Trafford at the end of his contract in June, sources have told Football Insider.
It was widely reported last month that Varane, 30, is out of contract at the end of the 2023-24 campaign rather than in June 2025 as first believed.
The World Cup winner can currently talk to foreign sides about a pre-contract agreement ahead of a free transfer switch later this year.
United do hold the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.
However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Red Devils are in “no rush” to green-light an extension for the centre-back.
It is believed an exit is the most likely outcome with club chiefs keen to get Varane’s big wages off the books at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old reportedly earns £340,000-a-week at the club after joining from Real Madrid in 2021.
Varane has never hidden his desire to return to his native France after leaving Lens for Real Madrid almost 13 years ago.
Despite being able to discuss a free transfer elsewhere, it is believed he is currently focused on keeping his place in the Man United lineup after being restored to the side by Erik ten Hag in recent weeks.

The serial winner has made 18 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring once.
He has made just 81 appearances across two and a half seasons in England with injuries limiting his impact at Old Trafford.
