Sources: Big update on Tottenham swoop for Julian Nagelsmann after new discussions
Tottenham have cemented Julian Nagelsmann as their top managerial candidate and are happy to wait until the summer to appoint him, sources have told Football Insider.
Spurs are huge admirers of the 35-year-old manager and are prepared to do whatever it takes to secure his signature this summer.
It is understood that Nagelsmann does not want to accept another job until the end of the season, and Spurs are happy to wait until then if that’s what it takes to lure the German coach to North London.
Tottenham sacked Antonio Conte at the end of March, just days after Bayern Munich parted ways with Nagelsmann.
Cristian Stellini was appointed interim head coach for the remainder of the campaign alongside former caretaker boss Ryan Mason.
Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with a return to the club and Luis Enrique has also been mentioned as a candidate, but Spurs have turned their full attention to Nagelsmann after facing competition from Chelsea.
The Blues sacked Graham Potter on Monday (3 April) and appointed Frank Lampard to take charge of the side until the end of the season.
Chelsea are also planning to wait until the summer to appoint a new manager, with Nagelsmann also on their shortlist.

Both London clubs are set to go head-to-head for his signature, with Tottenham hoping that qualifying for European football will stand them in good stead when it comes to negotiating.
Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern despite boasting a perfect Champions League record this season, and he departed Germany with a remarkable 71.4 per cent win rate after taking charge of 84 matches.
