Sources: Birmingham City accept £4.3m Jordan James bid as deal agreed
Serie A side Atalanta have agreed a permanent deal to sign Birmingham City sensation Jordan James, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that the Blues have accepted a £4.3million bid for the Welshman, 19, following a breakthrough in talks.
James will depart for Italy this month. It comes after City initially rejected two bids of £3.4million for the teenager as they wanted to hold out for a larger fee.
However, the managerless side has now accepted the increased bid for Jordan, who has been at St Andrew’s since 2012.
James has bagged five goals across 24 appearances this season and can play across multiple positions including defensive midfield, attacking midfield and right midfield.
He is also a senior player for Wales, making his debut in March last year in a European Championship qualifier against Croatia.
The midfielder has earned regular minutes for the Blues since November 2021, when he made his debut in a home clash against Bristol City.
This season, he has featured in all but two Championship games under the management of both John Eustace and the recently sacked Wayne Rooney.
Sources also told Football Insider (3 January) that the club have made ex-Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper their first-choice option to replace Rooney.
Birmingham sit 20th in the Championship table after the dismal run of form under Wayne Rooney and next face Hull City away in the FA Cup on Saturday (6 January).
