Sources: Birmingham City agree to sign QPR star Andre Dozzell after breakthrough
Birmingham City have agreed a deal to sign Queens Park Rangers midfielder Andre Dozzell on loan, sources have told Football Insider.
Dozzell, 24, will join the Blues for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.
He is set to become Tony Mowbray’s first signing as Birmingham manager since his appointment earlier this month.
A full agreement is now in place with Dozzell and QPR following a breakthrough in negotiations with the player’s father, ex-Premier League midfielder Jason, helping to pave the way for the move.
The midfielder has made 27 appearances across all competitions so far in the 2023-24 campaign, notching two goals and one assist.
He started eight Championship matches in a row from the start of December before returning to the bench for the 2-1 loss against Cardiff last week (14 January).
The Ipswich-born star is under contract at Loftus Road until the end of this season – but QPR have a one-year extension clause.
He started his career with the Tractor Boys, making 93 appearances across all competitions before leaving for west London in 2021.
Birmingham City sit 20th in the Championship after 27 games and are seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Mowbray drew his first second-tier game in charge of the Blues against Swansea on 13 January.
Meanwhile, QPR are 23rd in the table under Martí Cifuentes.
