Sources: Blackburn Rovers plotting raid for Queens Park Rangers star Jimmy Dunne

Blackburn Rovers are plotting a move for Queens Park Rangers defender Jimmy Dunne before the close of the transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Rovers are searching for defensive reinforcements after James Hill was recalled early from his loan spell at Ewood Park by Bournemouth.

Former Manchester United youngster Dunne is in the final six months of his contract at QPR and Rovers are hoping to lure the ex-Burnley man back to the North-West.

The centre-back has spent the majority of his senior career at the west London club, racking up 102 appearances in all competitions.

A shoulder injury sustained ahead of the new season kept him out of action until the start of November, but he has since made 14 starts for Marti Cifuentes’ side.

Dunne joined the Man United Academy in Belfast aged 10 and moved to Burnley in 2016.

He made just seven senior appearances for the Clarets and earned his permanent move to QPR following loan spells at five clubs including Sunderland, Hearts and Fleetwood Town.

Since then, he has established himself as a mainstay at Loftus Road and has started 86 out of 120 Championship games since his arrival.
