Sources: Blackpool open talks to sign Cardiff City star Curtis Nelson
Blackpool are in talks to sign Cardiff City defender Curtis Nelson, sources have told Football Insider.
Nelson is in the final six months of his contract and the Championship club are willing to let him leave this month rather than run down his contract and leave for free in the summer.
Negotiations are underway on a deal after the green light from Blackpool’s new manager Mick McCarthy.

He is looking to bring in another centre-back before next week’s transfer deadline having already signed Charlie Goode on loan from Brentford.
Nelson, 29, has dropped down the pecking order at Cardiff this season after being a regular for three seasons following his arrival from Oxford United in 2019.
The Bluebirds signed Nelson on a free transfer and tied him down to a two-year contract after watching him shine at Oxford, and he immediately became a crucial part of the first team.
In his first season in Wales, Nelson made 33 appearances in the Championship as he helped Cardiff reach the playoffs.
He added a further 74 league appearances to his tally in the following two seasons, but he’s found game time much harder to come by this season after making just nine appearances for a total of 475 minutes.

Cedric Kipre and Perry Ng have been the favoured centre-back duo this season, with Nelson limited to only a handful of starts.
Blackpool are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements having conceded 40 goals in 27 matches this campaign.
