Sources: Bournemouth midfielder Gavin Kilkenny agrees to join Fleetwood Town
Bournemouth midfielder Gavin Kilkenny has agreed a loan move to Fleetwood Town, sources have told Football Insider.
The 23-year-old is now set to seal a late-window move to the League One side, who are managed by Charlie Adam.
Kilkenny has struggled to feature so far in the 2023-24 campaign after remaining at Bournemouth past the 1 September transfer deadline last year.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has been a regular feature on the substitute’s bench this term, but has made just one appearance in the FA Cup.
He played 33 minutes as a substitute as Bournemouth ran out 5-0 winners against Swansea last week (25 January).
Kilkenny is under contract at the Vitality Stadium until June 2025.
The midfielder had spells on loan at Stoke and Charlton last season but featured sparingly in both moves.
He played just four times at Stoke and eight times with Charlton and is now targeting regular first-team action while on loan at League One strugglers Fleetwood.
Kilkenny, who came through the ranks at Bournemouth, can play in a ‘number eight’ midfield role and as a holding midfielder.

Andoni Iraola’s side, who have Phillip Billing, Lewis Cook and Alex Scott as first-choice midfielders, sit 12th in the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, Adam’s Fleetwood side are rock bottom of League One and are 11 points from safety.
