Sources: Bournemouth move for Nicolas Jackson collapses after medical

Bournemouth have seen their move for Villarreal forward Nicolas Jackson collapse after his medical, sources have told Football Insider.

Jackson, 21, was set to move to the Cherries this month but the Premier League outfit raised concerns over his medical and the move is now off.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (25 January) that Jackson was set to undergo his Bournemouth medical at 5pm on Wednesday ahead of a permanent move.

Jackson has failed to make an appearance for Villarreal in January, with a hip injury forcing him to miss the club’s last four matches.

Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil will now seemingly have to look elsewhere for a forward signing this month.

The Cherries have slipped into the relegation zone in the Premier League and are in desperate need of a goalscorer having only netted 19 goals in 20 matches.

Jackson has spent his whole career with Villarreal after graduating from their youth academy in 2020.

The Senegal international spent a further two years primarily playing for Villarreal B, while making occasional first-team appearances for the La Liga side.

Jackson became a regular starter for Villarreal this season under Quique Setien, who replaced Unai Emery in the hot seat following his move to Aston Villa.

The young striker has made 14 La Liga appearances this season, scoring twice and assisting a further two goals.

Jackson also appeared in all six of Villarreal’s Europa Conference League games, scoring once as he helped the side top Group C and achieve qualification to the knockout stages.
