Sources: Brendan Rodgers close to Leicester City sack after Rudkin fall-out

Brendan Rodgers could be just one match from the Leicester City sack, Football Insider understands.

The manager, 49, is under huge pressure to save his job following a poor run of results.

A Leicester source has told Football Insider that Rodgers could be dismissed if his team lose at seventh-placed Wolves on Sunday.

He is believed to have fallen out with longstanding Foxes director of football Jon Rudkin, with the club’s recruitment a particular bone of contention.

The source explained that Rodgers may even have been sacked had Leicester lost at home to West Ham last weekend.

In the event, the Foxes drew 2-2 against David Moyes’ high flyers, who needed a last-gasp Craig Dawson equaliser to seal a share of the points.

Leicester currently sit 11th in the Premier League table, having finished fifth for the last two seasons.

Rodgers’ men are already 14 points behind fifth-placed West Ham and face a fight to qualify for Europe next season.

They were dumped out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest earlier this month, the Championship side winning 4-1.

The Foxes were also knocked out of the Europa League, finishing third in their group behind Spartak Moscow and Napoli.

They now face Danish outfit Randers in the Europa Conference League knockout playoffs.

The two clubs will meet tonight (17 February) at the King Power Stadium for the first leg tonight.

While Leicester’s top brass are considering Rodgers’ position, it is understood they will wait until after Sunday’s game against Wolves.

The Foxes have not won a league game since the 1-0 victory over Liverpool on December 28.
