Sources: Brentford ready bid for Norwich City star Abu Kamara

Brentford have a concrete interest in signing Norwich City striker Abu Kamara, sources have told Football Insider.

Kamara, 19, is firmly on the radar of the London outfit after breaking into the Championship club’s team at the end of last season.

Brentford have been keeping tabs on Kamara and they are weighing up a bid for the teenager as they see him as a potential star in the making.

The super-quick forward made his senior debut off the bench against Sheffield United in April and went on to make two further appearances as a substitute.

Kamara was promoted to David Wagner’s first-team plans after starring for the club’s Under-21s with 13 goals and two assists in just 15 games in Premier League 2.

His current contract at Carrow Road runs until 2024 and includes the option of a further 12-month extension.

Thomas Frank’s side are looking for reinforcements up front after Ivan Toney’s football ban was confirmed.

The striker has been banned from football for eight months after he admitted to 232 breaches of the Football Associations betting rules.

Toney will be able to return to footballing activities on 16 January 2024.

As quoted by the Daily Mail after the ban was announced (19 May), Bees boss Frank insisted Toney’s future is with Brentford despite his lengthy ban.

Frank insisted the club will do everything to support the 27-year-old whilst he sees out his ban.

Brentford finished ninth in the Premier League in the 2022-23 season and are looking to strengthen this summer to cement their place as a top ten side.
