Sources: Brighton agree to sign Sima before loaning him to Stoke City

Brighton are finalising the signing of Slavia Prague striker Abdallah Sima before loaning him out to Stoke City, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

This site broke the news yesterday that the Seagulls have agreed a deal in the region of £8million with Slavia for the 20-year-old.

A Brighton source has told Football Insider that the club regard Sima as a huge talent but one for the future.

Multiple Championship clubs have shown an interest in signing him on loan but Stoke are set to win the race after securing an agreement with Brighton.

West Ham were also interested in signing the versatile attacker after an outstanding 2020/21 campaign.

However, Brighton have beaten their Premier League rivals to his capture.

Sima caught the attention of Premier League scouts with his performances both domestically and in Europe last term.

He netted 16 goals in 33 appearances across all competitions, with four of his strikes coming in the Europa League.

The Senegal international scored as Slavia knocked out Leicester City in the round of 32.

He then played every minute across both legs as the Czech side beat Rangers in the last 16.

A graduate of Slavia’s academy, Sima only made his first-team debut back in September 2020.

He has scored a total of 16 goals in 39 appearances for the senior side to date.

His record and potential have convinced Brighton to fork out a seven-figure fee for his capture.

He is set to join Stoke on loan to get regular first-team football in England.

The Potters currently sit fifth in the Championship after three wins, a draw and a defeat.
