Sources: Brighton finalise Mahmoud Dahoud signing as medical completed

Mahmoud Dahoud has already undergone a medical at Brighton and is expected to sign a deal later this week, sources have told Football Insider.

Dahoud is out of contract at Borussia Dortmund this summer and the Seagulls have moved quickly to agree a deal for the central midfielder.

The 27-year-old joined the German club in July 2017 and is now expected to move to the AMEX this summer in what is another box-office signing for the club.

Dahoud has made just ten appearances for Dortmund across all competitions this season for a total of 418 minutes and has provided one assist in those outings.

Last season, the former Germany international made 30 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and offering up seven assists in those outings.

Brighton are looking for midfield reinforcements as they prepare for interest in midfield star Moises Caicedo this summer and sources told Football Insider that Arsenal are plotting a new raid after they failed to land the Ecuadorian in January.

Even though the 21-year-old recently put pen to paper on a four-year extension at the AMEX, Roberto de Zerbi’s side are expecting bids for the midfielder in the upcoming window.

Caicedo has previously made clear his desire to move on from the Seagulls.

Speaking to The Telegraph last month (21 April), the midfielder said it was “tough” seeing his move to the Gunners fall through but is certain he will have “many more opportunities” for a move.

Liverpool

Brighton are looking to build upon their current squad after an impressive season which has them vying for a European spot in the next campaign.

De Zerbi’s side are currently sixth in the Premier League, seven points behind fifth-place Liverpool with two games in hand.
