Sources: Brighton in advanced new contract talks with Chelsea target Andrew Moran

Brighton are in advanced talks with teenage sensation Andrew Moran over a new contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been linked with potential moves to Manchester United and Chelsea but the Seagulls want to keep him.

Brighton are working on securing Moran to a new deal and are confident of doing so with a breakthrough in negotiations close.

The Republic of Ireland youth international is highly regarded at Brighton and made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup against Cardiff City last season.

He joined Brighton from Irish side Bray Wanderers in the summer of 2020.

Moran has proved to be a good signing for the Seagulls and has been prolific in the youth team.

In 2021-22, he scored four times and provided a further four assists in 19 games for the Under-23s in Premier League 2.

After featuring for the first team in pre-season, he told club media last month (27 July) that he now wants to become a regular in Graham Potter’s side.

A new deal will be a significant move for Brighton who have already done business with Chelsea this summer.

Marc Cucurella signed for the London club for a fee that could reach £62million last week (5 August) while young centre-back Lewi Colwill went the other way on loan.

Chelsea added one of the highest-rated teenagers in the Premier League earlier this month (4 August) with the £20million signing of Carney Chukwuemeka.

After a historic 2-1 win over Man United on Sunday (7 August), Brighton are next in action against Newcastle Untied on Saturday (13 August).
