Sources: Bruno Guimaraes set to open talks over £100,000-a-week+ Newcastle United deal
Newcastle United are set to open talks with midfielder Bruno Guimaraes over a new contract extension, sources have told Football Insider.
The 25-year-old Brazilian only joined the Magpies in January 2022 but Newcastle are willing to offer him a bumper contract in order to fend off interest.
Newcastle are set to offer Guimaraes a long-term deal with wages understood to be in excess of £100,000-a-week, placing him among the club’s highest earners.

Eddie Howe wants Guimaraes to be central to his project at St James’ Park and has promised to build a team around him during negotiations.
Newcastle spent big on Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon over the summer and winter windows and are expected to flex their financial muscle again at the end of the season as Howe looks to maintain the momentum built by the club.
Guimaraes joined the Premier League side in a £40million move from Lyon last season and ended his first campaign in England with five goals and one assist in 17 appearances.
He has continued his impressive form in the 2022/23 campaign, scoring four and assisting three in 25 appearances across all competitions.
Guimaraes spoke last year about how well he has settled down at the club: “I am very happy over here.

“We have settled in really well. I always wanted to play in the Premier League – it’s been a dream of mine, so playing for Newcastle has been very pleasurable.
“I want to be a legend here. It’s special for me.”
