Sources: Burnley and Hull City launch moves for Millwall starlet Romain Esse
Burnley and Hull City have made official approaches to Millwall for midfield starlet Romain Esse, sources have told Football Insider.
The 18-year-old made his breakthrough at the New Den last season and is now attracting interest in the Premier League and Championship.
It is believed Esse would be open to making a late-window move away from south London.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the teenager is not playing as many minutes as he would have hoped for so far in the 2023-24 campaign.
Esse has turned out 17 times across all competitions this term, scoring once.
His only league start of the season so far came in a 3-1 defeat against Norwich back in August under previous boss Gary Rowett.
Esse’s game time has seen a marked decrease since the appointment of Joe Edwards in November.
The 18-year-old, who is of Ivorian descent, was born in London and has come through the ranks at Millwall.
He has played at Under-19 level for England, scoring once in eight outings.
Burnley have placed a focus on signing top young talent since their relegation to the Championship in 2022 and have one of the most youthful sides in the current Premier League.
Vincent Kompany’s side are 19th in the top-flight after promotion last term.

Hull have already made four signings this month and are keen to bolster their squad as they target promotion.
The Tigers sit eighth in the table and are just one point adrift of the playoff places.
