Sources: Burnley make new move to sign Callum O’Hare amid £5m Coventry City reveal

Burnley have reignited their interest in signing Coventry City star Callum O’Hare, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship high flyers chased the attacker, 24, all summer and had multiple bids rejected by their second-tier rivals.

Burnley ended their pursuit when O’Hare suffered a serious hamstring injury that ruled him out of the opening months of the season.

But he is now back playing and fully fit, and the Clarets have registered their interest in a potential January deal.

Coventry had valued their prize asset at £5million earlier this year but Vincent Kompany’s promotion challengers will be hopeful of signing him for cheaper in the upcoming window.

O’Hare went 168 days without playing for Coventry but returned to action in a substitute appearance against Stoke on 22 October.

The 24-year-old has now accrued four starts amid seven Championship appearances this season, registering two assists.

Former Aston Villa youngster O’Hare had an outstanding campaign for the Sky Blues last season, notching five goals and eight assists.

The attacking midfielder is out of contract in the summer of 2024 after signing an extension to his deal in January of this year.

Coventry sit 11th in the Championship after playing the majority of this term without the output of O’Hare.

Man City

Meanwhile, Burnley are on course for an instant return to the Premier League as they sit three points clear atop the second tier after 21 games.

Both sides are back in action in the second weekend of December after the mid-season World Cup break.
