Sources: Calum Chambers rejects three offers to leave Aston Villa

Aston Villa want to offload defender Calum Chambers before Thursday’s transfer deadline but he has rejected three offers to leave, sources have told Football Insider.

Villa are pushing behind the scenes to complete a deal for the 29-year-old, but he is reluctant to leave the club.

It is understood that three Championship clubs have all submitted offers for the Villa defender but Chambers has rejected all approaches.

The Birmingham-based club are under pressure to raise funds to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and offloading Chambers would help to lower their wage bill.

Chambers has fallen down Unai Emery’s pecking order at Villa Park and has made just three appearances across all competitions this season.

He is yet to play a single minute of Premier League football in 2023-24 with Matty Cash and Ezri Konsa preferred by Emery.

Chambers moved to Villa in 2022 on a free transfer to reunite with Emery following their time together at Arsenal, but he has struggled to make his way into the first-team plans.

Villa are running out of time to cash in on Chambers with his three-year contract set to expire next summer.

Emery stated earlier this month that Chambers is free to leave the club as they look to raise funds through player sales.

As revealed by Football Insider, Emery confirmed that both Chambers and Villa teammate Bertrand Traore were free to find new clubs in the January window.
