Sources: Celtic expect Liel Abada to complete move amid £10m offer reveal

Celtic expect forward Liel Abada to depart the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Sources told this site on Monday (3 April) that the 21-year-old has rejected a new contract at Parkhead ahead of a potential summer move.

Abada wants to leave Parkhead this summer amid links to Premier League bottom club Southampton and interest from Crystal Palace.

Israel international Abada joined Celtic in July 2021, signing a contract which runs until the summer of 2026.

The winger cost the Glasgow giants a reported fee of £3.6million when he arrived in Scotland – and they are believed to be willing to let him depart for a fee of between £7-10million in the summer window.

He has struggled for consistent starts in Ange Postecoglou’s side this season – with Portuguese star Jota holding down his place in the side with another impressive campaign.

Abada has managed 12 goals and seven assists in 41 appearances in the 2022-23 campaign – despite making just 17 starts.

He was named the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year last summer (2022) after registering 15 goals and 11 assists for Celtic in the 2021-22 season.

Speaking after the 21-year-old returned from international duty (31 March), Postecoglou suggested that the winger could miss this week’s (8 April) Old Firm clash with Rangers through injury.

Celtic

Abada sat out the 2-0 win over Ross County on Sunday (2 April) as Celtic maintained their nine-point advantage over Rangers atop the Scottish Premiership.

He is one of a number of Celtic stars attracting Premier League interest – with Football Insider revealing on Tuesday (4 April) that Kyogo Furuhashi has been scouted regularly by Crystal Palace this season.
