Celtic have made an approach to sign Kilmarnock left-back Greg Taylor as they step up their late-window transfer activity, Football Insider has learned.
The Hoops are on the verge of signing goalkeeper Fraser Forster on a season-long loan from Southampton and are also looking to strengthen the left side of the defence before the window shuts.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider the club’s interest in Taylor, 21, is genuine and that a deal can be done with Killie if they match the £1million asking price.
The Scottish champions are looking to add further cover at left-back following Kieran Tierney’s departure to Arsenal and the £3million arrival of Boli Bolingoli.
Taylor has been shortlisted by Celtic to fill what has become a problem position after making rapid strides at Kilmarnock in recent seasons.
Capped by Scotland at senior level, the former Rangers youth-team ace has made 131 appearances for the Scottish Premiership side, including five this season.
Taylor has two years remaining on his contract with Kilmarnock, who have begun the new campaign with consecutive league defeats.
Celtic have been given some encouragement about a possible deal by Kilmarnock strengthening their ranks with the arrival of full-back Niko Hamalainen on loan from QPR.
