Sources: Celtic striker signing update today after new development
Celtic could miss out on signing Bodo/Glimt star Kasper Hogh in the winter window due to the Norwegian club’s recent progression to the Champions League play-offs.
Hogh‘s fine form for Bodo has seen several clubs keep tabs on his availability throughout the January transfer window.
The 25-year-old scored 21 goals in 43 games to fire his side to the Eliteserien title in 2024, while he recently bagged 17 in 28 league appearances as they finished second in the 2025 campaign.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Celtic had enquired about Hogh as they look to add a new striker to Martin O’Neill‘s ranks before the end of the current window.
Norwich City have submitted a £7million bid to sign Hogh as the race for his services heats up, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, he could now stay at Bodo following their progression in the Champions League.

Bodo more likely to keep Hogh after his UCL exploits
Hogh scored the winner against Atletico Madrid in midweek to send Bodo into the Champions League playoffs in 23rd place, where they will face Inter Milan over two legs for a place in the last 16.
That strike came just a week after his brace helped down Man City 3-1, and the Norwegian side are even more hopeful that the allure of continuing their UCL journey will convince Hogh to stay at the club for now, rather than joining Celtic.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “It does complicate things, Bodo’s progression into the playoffs in the Champions League, but Kasper Hogh himself has just been enhancing his reputation in recent weeks.
“(He scored) two goals against Man City last week, and then he got the winner against Atletico Madrid to send the Norwegians into the playoffs.
“The player is definitely making a case for Bodo to keep him with his goalscoring form. Norwich are the ones who have made the firm offer for Hogh so far, with that £7million bid, so that’s something that Bodo are thinking over right now.
“Bodo probably don’t really want to lose Kasper Hogh following their Champions League exploits, and then you’ve got the offer from Norwich as well, so it would take a big money offer from Celtic to try and win the race for a signature if it happens.“
Celtic battling Sunderland in race to sign Antonino Gallo
A new striker signing is still on the Hoops’ agenda, but bringing in a new face at left-back may be an even bigger priority for O’Neill given Tomas Cvancara’s recent arrival and their lack of depth in the position.
Kieran Tierney is their only fully fit senior option there as it stands, but Football Insider have revealed that Celtic are interested in signing Lecce left-back Antonino Gallo before next Monday’s deadline.
Premier League club Sunderland are also keeping tabs on the 26-year-old, who has made 24 appearances for the 17th-placed Serie A side so far this term.
Gallo could well be a late arrival at Parkhead ahead of a big battle for the Premiership title with Hearts and Rangers, and O’Neill may well have to settle on his current forward options after this latest Hogh setback.
