Sources: Rangers star Charlie McCann agrees personal terms with Forest Green

Rangers midfielder Charlie McCann has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Forest Green Rovers and finalised a £350,000 transfer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 20-year-old has already completed a medical with the English League One outfit and penned a deal running until 2026

The transfer has yet to be announced by Forest Green but it is understood the deal is “done” and international clearance will be completed soon.

McCann has rejected a new Rangers contract to head back south of the border, two years after joining from Man United.

He has struggled to make much first-team headway at Ibrox despite an extra-time cameo as a substitute in the recent Scottish League Cup win against Aberdeen.

That was his first senior appearance since September, and only his eighth in total for Rangers.

McCann is keen to play regular first-team football at this stage of his career and that is at the heart of his move to the EFL.

His arrival at Ibrox from United had been trumpeted as a coup, with the cost of the deal potentially rising to £750,000 based on a set number of first-team appearances.

But McCann will leave Rangers, who will receive a fee of £350,000 plus add-ons, without hitting that trigger figure.

He switched international allegiances from Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland last year and was called up for their Nations League games in the summer without playing.
