Sources: Charlton Athletic plot move to sign Ipswich Town star Freddie Ladapo
Ipswich Town striker Freddie Ladapo is a loan target for Charlton Athletic in this month’s transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The League One side have made a new striker a top priority in January and Ladapo figures highly on their wanted list.
The 30-year-old has found himself playing a bit-part role for promotion-chasing Ipswich so far this season.
Additionally, the Portman Road side are in the market for a new forward – which could push Ladapo even further down Kieran McKenna’s pecking order.
The Romford-born ace has made 22 appearances across all competitions for the Tractor Boys this season, scoring four and contributing one assist.
However, just seven of those outings have come as part of the starting lineup as McKenna’s side chase promotion to the Premier League.
Ladapo played a starring role for Ipswich last season as they secured promotion to the Championship.
He netted 17 times in 46 League One games and was also prolific in the cup competitions.
The 30-year-old joined the Suffolk outfit in July 2022 from Rotherham on a free transfer.
Ladapo is a proven force at League One level, netting 66 goals in 201 games in the third tier.
His contract at Portman Road is set to run until June 2025.

Ipswich sit second in the Championship table despite a recent blip and are next in action against Sunderland on Saturday (13 January).
Meanwhile, Charlton are 13th in the table and face third-place Peterborough on Saturday.
