Chelsea are set to hand young star Mason Mount a new deal before sanctioning a loan move to Derby County, Football Insider sources understands.
The east Midlands club are leading the race to sign highly-rated midfielder Mount on loan for next season, despite interest from a whole host of Championship clubs.
Mount enjoyed an outstanding season out on loan at Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists in the Eredivisie.
The 19-year-old is tipped for a bright future at Chelsea and he trained with the senior England squad earlier this summer prior to their departure to Russia for the World Cup.
Mount still has three years to run on his current deal at Chelsea, but the Blues are keen to reward him for his progress and secure his future on a new long-term contract.
Chelsea are still deciding where they feel would be the best loan option for Mount, but Derby are confident of securing the skilful midfielder due to manager Frank Lampard’s connections at Chelsea.
In other Chelsea transfer news, Football Insider can reveal a brilliant right-sided ace is set to quit the club in a shock move a year before his contract ends.
