Sources: Chelsea already have Liam Rosenior transfer plan for January
Chelsea will not make “lots of money” available for Liam Rosenior to work with in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.
The Strasbourg boss has been in London for talks with the Blues hierarchy in recent days, and it is now understood that his appointment is “a formality” at this stage.
Rosenior’s arrival could shake up the Chelsea squad, and the expectation from the board is that he will work with what he’s already got in the building in the early stages of his reign.
Sources have indicated to Football Insider that Todd Boehly and Co. believe there is already enough quality in the group to compete at the top end of the Premier League, and Rosenior is keen to see if he can improve the ability of the current crop.

Liam Rosenior set for favourable start at Chelsea
Rosenior’s appointment at Chelsea is imminent, but it has already been confirmed that Calum McFarlane will remain in charge of the team for the trip to Fulham on Wednesday night.
The new boss could potentially then be in place in time to take charge of the visit to Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
While the all-London tie could be a potential banana skin for the Blues, it represents what will be part of a favourable opening run for Rosenior once he takes the reins.
That clash is followed up by the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal, a competition which hasn’t been a major priority for the West Londoners in recent years.
A London derby against Brentford then follows at Stamford Bridge, before Cypriot outfit Pafos visit in the Champions League.
That opening run of four games should give Rosenior the perfect chance to get his feet under the table at Chelsea and get to know his squad, likely without facing much immediate pressure.
Stefan Borson on Strasbourg issue ahead of Rosenior exit
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider that Chelsea’s imminent appointment of Rosenior will not create an issue for Strasbourg when it comes to finding their new boss.
The French outfit are part of BlueCo’s multi-club ownership model, and they have close ties with Chelsea as a result of that.
Borson insisted that effectively promoting managers from within is a key part of multi-club ownership, but he doesn’t expect the Blues’ counterparts to have any problems when it comes to finding a replacement for their outgoing chief.
While BlueCo’s consideration for Strasbourg’s fortunes is evident, it is also abundantly clear that Chelsea are their top priority.
