Sources: Chelsea could accept record Premier League offer for Cole Palmer

Man United would have to stump up a Premier League record fee to sign Cole Palmer from Chelsea amid rumours of a move to Old Trafford.

Palmer has developed into one of the world’s best players during his time at Chelsea, but has struggled to get going this season amid ongoing injury issues.

He has only started 10 Premier League games so far, but has still registered eight goals and four assists in his 20 appearances across all competitions.

Chelsea fans have criticised Palmer for some poor performances as he struggles to reach full fitness, and doubts around his future have emerged as a result.

It has been reported that the 23-year-old is homesick in London and would be open to joining Man United, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, it would take an astronomical transfer fee for Chelsea to even consider letting him leave.

Chelsea will only consider selling Palmer for over £125m

Alexander Isak‘s move from Newcastle to Liverpool last summer saw a new Premier League record fee set at £125m.

Sources have told Football Insider that Palmer has no plans to leave Chelsea and wants to sign a new contract, and United’s chances of signing him look slim regardless, given the money they would have to spend to make it happen.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: Chelsea don’t want to lose him, he’s under contract until 2033.

I think to even consider selling him it would probably have to be a record fee for the Premier League, as well, and that’s why I don’t see this deal being done.

I don’t see Manchester United paying what Chelsea would need for him to be sold, and as I said, I don’t think Chelsea want to sell him either, so it’s a non-starter for me right now.

Chelsea expected to wrap up Jeremy Jacquet deal before deadline

Chelsea are yet to make any new signings this month following Liam Rosenior’s arrival, but a centre-back has been a likely addition, and Jacquet looks set to move to Stamford Bridge imminently.

The 20-year-old has established himself as a regular at the back for Rennes in Ligue 1 this season, with starts in 17 of their 19 league games so far.

Chelsea have been battling Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for Jacquet‘s services this month, but he is expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Football finance expert Stefan Borson has told Football Insider that Chelsea are set to sign Jacquet close to the deadline to add to Liam Rosenior’s defensive ranks as they chase another Champions League qualification.
