Sources: Chelsea must take emergency action to avoid points deduction catastrophe
Chelsea need to take emergency action by selling multiple star players for huge money over the summer transfer window to avoid a points deduction catastrophe, sources have told Football Insider.
As it stands, the London club is at risk of exceeding the £105million allowable losses under Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.
The regulations state that top-flight clubs cannot lose more than £105million over a three-year period.
Everton were deducted 10 points in November for exceeding the losses by £19.5million and the Toffees now face a second charge alongside Nottingham Forest for their 2022/23 accounts.
Chelsea are yet to publish their 2022-23 accounts but spent over £500million on 17 players according to The Athletic.
Chelsea firesale expected to avoid points deduction
It follows the 2021/22 campaign when the Blues announced a net loss of £121.3million.
Sources have told Football Insider that Chelsea are now planning to offload multiple big-name players in the summer to raise funds and avoid a points deduction.
As revealed by Football Insider, the Blues could look to sell Mykhailo Mudryk this summer as Mauricio Pochettino’s concerns about his playing style are revealed.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are also set to miss out on any extra payments from Uefa with Chelsea unlikely to qualify for European competition next season.
The Blues currently sit 10th in the Premier League table – nine points adrift from Manchester United in sixth.
